Erik ten Hag upset on Kim Min-jae’s decision to join Bayern Munich over United

According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is furious with Napoli defender Kim Min-jae’s decision to move to Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils are actively seeking to strengthen their defence in the current transfer window, especially with speculation surrounding the potential departure of their captain, Harry Maguire.

United had identified Min-jae as a top target for the club’s defence, particularly impressed by his performance in Napoli’s Serie A title-winning campaign.

According to reports, the club had reached an agreement to sign the South Korean centre-back. It was believed that Kim had accepted a contract offer from the club, which amounted to £9 million per year, approximately £175,000 per week.

Furthermore, it was reported that Kim had given more than just a verbal commitment to Ten Hag regarding his intention to join Man United. However, the defender’s sudden change of heart has left the United boss frustrated.

Bayern Munich has emerged as the likely destination for Kim, with the German giants expected to finalize a five-year contract with the player, thus seemingly hijacking United’s plans to sign him.

The German giants are poised to secure the defender’s services by activating his £42.6 million release clause on July 1.

This development has left Ten Hag frustrated, as the club’s transfer activity has been limited due to the ongoing ownership uncertainty.

The Qatari group’s takeover process is still ongoing, despite previous claims of an imminent deal, and the Glazer family have been reluctant to invest in new players.

Consequently, United may miss out on other targets such as Declan Rice and Mason Mount, who have both been linked with the club in recent times.
