Manchester United target Harry Kane wants to move to Bayern Munich

As reported by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have received a significant setback in their pursuit of Harry Kane.

The Tottenham striker has identified Bayern Munich as his preferred destination for a summer transfer. The German club are reportedly confident of securing Kane’s services for a fee of £85 million.

The England captain has only one year remaining on his contract with Tottenham. Despite being a loyal player for the London club for the past 12 years and scoring 280 goals, he has yet to win a domestic trophy.

With Spurs missing out on European competitions, Kane is now eager to secure a move that can fulfil his ambitions of winning silverware.

Man United has been considered the most likely destination for the 29-year-old, especially with Erik ten Hag in need of a new striker.

Real Madrid have also been linked to Kane after losing Karim Benzema to a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. However, according to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich have emerged as the frontrunner in the race for Kane’s signature.

Bayern’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, has long admired Kane from his time as Chelsea’s boss and has faced him on multiple occasions.

Like United, Bayern are also in search of a prolific goalscorer after losing Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer. Bayern narrowly secured their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title, relying on a final-day slip by Borussia Dortmund and their own last-minute winner.

The club have now prioritized Kane as their primary target following internal discussions. The path to acquiring the England hero could potentially be a smooth one for Bayern.

Although United are interested in him, the Tottenham striker has expressed his clear preference for Bayern Munich as his desired destination this summer.

By choosing the Bavarian giants, Kane would avoid a potentially uncomfortable reunion with his current club, Tottenham, if he were to join a Premier League rival.

However, Bayern will have to navigate negotiations with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who values Kane at £100 million despite his age and the fact that he has only one year remaining on his contract.

Meanwhile, this would be a huge blow for United since they have been the favourites to land the English skipper this summer.

The Red Devils now have very limited targets to keep an eye on. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos are still on the club’s transfer wish list.
